FAQ

How much will it cost to record my project?
$25/hour.

Is there a minimum time/price for a project?
No. If you want to come in and record one vocal take and print it to CD right when you're finished, that's totally fine.

How long will it take to record my project?
That completely depends on how many tracks per song, how many takes per track, how much editing/processing you want to do per track, as well as setup and breakdown times. We understand the studio can be a very intimidating place, so we've done a lot in terms of making the whole process as quick and easy as possible. Our number one priority while you're here is to make sure you're comfortable. If you're not comfortable, you're not going to give the best performance possible. We'll have food and drinks available to you, a practice space, a lounge and a kitchen. Watch a movie, rehearse your song, make dinner, whatever helps you relax.

As for a generalized rule of thumb, figure about an hour per recorded minute of music. Again, this depends on a lot. How complex is the arrangement? How reheased are you? Are there many overdubs? Are you going to nail it in one take, or do 5 separate takes and audition every line to make the perfect track? Obviously the more complex and critical you want to be, the longer it'll take and the more it will cost. But if you're well rehearsed, know exactly how the arrangement is supposed to be, and keep it relatively simple, the time and money you spend will be less.

What equipment do you use?
You can check out our Gear page for a detailed list. Our host application is Nuendo 3. We master in WaveLab and can import projects done in Cubase and Sonor.

Do you master your own projects?
We can do some mastering, and it does make a considerable difference. It's usually not a good idea, however, to have the same person who mixed the record also master it. In the same way that a writer doesn't edit his own book, most clients are better off at sending the final mixes off to a Mastering House. They have much better equipment for mastering, near-perfect acoustically treated rooms, are more experienced and have clean ears to the project. That being said, if you just can't afford to have it mastered, or are just doing a demo, we certainly can do the mastering for you and have some great tools for it.

I have a computer at home and some recording equipment, can I bring my tracks in just for mixing?
Absolutely! Contact us for more information about what formats will work best.

What other services do you offer?
Aside from mixing and mastering, we also offer restoration of old or damaged audio recordings, remote off-site recordings, remixes, MIDI production, and file-transfers. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us!
